Instagram feed video size: how to make a 4:5 video on iPhone
A video in the Instagram feed gets the most room when it's 4:5 portrait — taller than a square, so it fills more of the screen as people scroll. Here's the size to use, how to turn any clip or several clips into a 4:5 video on iPhone, and how to keep the important part visible in the profile grid.
Instagram and Facebook video sizes
| Ratio | Size in pixels | 4K | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feed post (portrait) | 4:5 | 1080×1350 | 2160×2700 |
| Square post | 1:1 | 1080×1080 | 2160×2160 |
| Reels and Stories | 9:16 | 1080×1920 | 2160×3840 |
The profile grid shows a 3:4 preview of feed posts, so thin strips at the left and right edges of a 4:5 video are hidden there.
Step by step
Start a 4:5 project
Open Video Grid Collage (free on the App Store). On the start screen, tap Feed under Instagram — Facebook's Feed preset is 4:5 too — or tap 4:5 in the Format section. For a single clip, tap a frame under Single video at the bottom of the start screen instead.
Add your clips
Pick one video or several — up to 9 play at once, and each cell can play several clips in a row. In a Single video project, tap Aspect afterwards and choose 4:5.
Fit every clip
Drag a clip inside its cell to choose what stays in view and pinch to zoom. A single clip can sit fully in the frame, with a color, a photo or another video behind it under Background.
Add a title and music
Tap Text for a headline — keep it in the middle of the frame — and Insert → Audio for a song.
Export and post
Export in 1080p (1080×1350) or 4K (2160×2700), then post it to your Instagram or Facebook feed.
Tips for 4:5 feed videos
- Keep faces and text away from the left and right edges: the profile grid shows a 4:5 post as a narrower 3:4 preview.
- Two horizontal clips stacked on top of each other fill a 4:5 frame with little cropping.
- A 2×2 grid of moments makes a strong feed post — each tile still reads well on a phone.
- Make one project for several placements: export 4:5 for the feed, then switch Aspect to 9:16 for Reels and Stories.
