How to add a border to a video on iPhone
A clean white frame makes a clip look like a print, a thin black line keeps collage tiles apart, and a colored border matches your brand. The Photos app can't add any of them, but Video Grid Collage can — around a single video or around every frame of a collage.
Step by step
Open the video
In Video Grid Collage (free on the App Store), tap + on the start screen, choose Image or Video and pick your video.
Switch to a single frame
Tap Grid → Layout and choose the first layout — a single frame. Border tools for one video appear in this layout.
Add the border
Tap the video on the timeline, then Border. Set the thickness with Width and pick the Color — white, black or any shade.
Adjust the edge line
Stroke adds a thin outline along both edges of the border, black by default. For one solid color, set Stroke to the same color as the border.
Round the corners (optional)
Tap Corners to round the video — the border follows the curve. Tap Background to choose the color around the frame.
Export
Export in up to 4K and share it anywhere.
Border ideas
- A medium white border gives a clean, print-like look; a thin black one suits moody footage.
- Match the border to your brand or to a color in the video — tap + in the color picker for a custom shade.
- In a collage, tap Grid → Border to outline every frame, and Grid → Padding to add space between them.
- Borders and rounded corners work on overlays too — for example a picture-in-picture window.
