Video collage templates on iPhone
A template does the design work for you: the layout, the motion and the timing are set, and you only drop in your clips. Video Grid Collage opens on a start screen full of them — here's what each kind does and how to make one your own.
The kinds of templates
| What it does | Formats | |
|---|---|---|
| Animated (24) | Each frame's clip slides, fades, zooms or pops in, one frame after another, and out again at the end | 9:16 and 16:9 |
| Puzzle (20) | One video or photo is split across all frames, and the pieces fly in to form the whole picture | 9:16 and 16:9 |
| Gradient (18) | Two clips blend into each other with a soft fade instead of a hard line | 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1 |
| Blend (3) | Clips are stacked full-frame and mixed with blend modes such as Screen, Multiply or Overlay | 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1 |
| Picture in Picture (12) | A full-frame video with a smaller window in one corner | 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1 |
| Layouts (100) | Side by side, stacked, grids and mixed arrangements of up to 9 frames | Portrait, landscape and square — any of 9 aspect ratios |
Step by step
Pick a template
Open Video Grid Collage (free on the App Store). On the start screen, choose a template in Animated, Puzzle, Gradient, Blend or Picture in Picture — or a layout in Portrait, Landscape or Square.
Add your clips
Pick one clip for each frame. A puzzle template needs just one video or photo — it's cut into the pieces for you. A blend template takes two clips and puts the second on top of the first.
Make it yours
Select any frame and tap Animation to change its In and Out styles, Duration and Timing. Switch the arrangement under Grid → Layout or the shape under Aspect.
Add text and music
Tap Text for a title — it can be animated too — and Insert → Audio for a song.
Export
Export in up to 4K. Animated and puzzle templates are set to 60 fps for smooth motion.
Tips for templates
- Animated templates look best with short clips that start moving right away.
- Puzzle templates work with almost anything — a landscape, a portrait, a product shot.
- Each frame of an animated template can play several clips in a row: tap the + at the end of its row on the timeline.
- Gradient layouts suit before-and-after videos and two angles of the same scene.
- Blend templates make double exposures: a portrait on the bottom, a landscape on top in Screen.
