How to make a video collage for YouTube

Side-by-side comparisons, multi-camera recaps, a grid of highlights — a video collage works as a whole YouTube video or as a part of one. YouTube videos are horizontal 16:9, so the trick is to choose a layout that suits your clips. Here's how to make one on iPhone.

Short answer: a regular YouTube video is 16:9 — 1920×1080, or 3840×2160 in 4K. In Video Grid Collage, tap Video under YouTube on the start screen, or pick a layout in the Landscape section, add your clips, sync them on the timeline and export in up to 4K at 60 fps.
You'll need: an iPhone (iOS 18+) · the free Video Grid Collage app · ~5 minutes

Step by step

01

Start a 16:9 project

Open Video Grid Collage (free on the App Store). On the start screen, tap Video under YouTube, or choose a ready-made layout in the Landscape section.

02

Add your clips

Pick your videos and photos — up to 9 play at once. Try other arrangements under Grid → Layout until they suit your clips.

03

Sync and trim

Every cell has its own track on the timeline: trim each clip so the moments line up, and add more clips to a cell to keep it playing for the whole video.

04

Add titles and music

Tap Text for titles and labels, Captions for subtitles, and Insert → Audio for music.

05

Export in 4K

Export in 1080p or 4K at up to 60 fps, with HDR if your clips have it, and upload the file to YouTube.
