How to blend two videos into one shot

A classic split screen draws a hard line between two clips. A gradient layout does the opposite: the edges melt into each other, so two videos read as one dreamy shot — a sunset fading into city lights, you fading into your younger self. In Video Grid Collage one slider turns any two-cell layout into a blend.

You'll need: an iPhone (iOS 18+) · the free Video Grid Collage app · ~5 minutes

Step by step

01

Pick a Gradient template

Open Video Grid Collage (free) and choose a template in the Gradient section of the start screen — vertical, landscape or square.

02

Add your two clips

Put a video or a photo into each half.

03

Adjust the blend

Tap Grid, then Gradient, and drag the slider: at the low end you get a crisp split, at the high end one clip melts into the other.

04

Or blend a layout you already have

Working on a side-by-side or top-and-bottom collage? Grid → Gradient turns its hard line into a soft fade the same way.

05

Line up the moments

Trim both clips on the timeline so the key moments play together, and match their colors with Filters or Adjust.

06

Export

Export up to 4K with HDR and share.

Frequently asked questions

What is a gradient layout?
A two-cell layout where the border between the clips is a soft fade instead of a hard line, so both clips blend into one shot.
Can I blend more than two videos?
The gradient works with two-cell layouts. For more clips, use a regular grid.
Can I blend a photo with a video?
Yes. Either half can be a photo or a video.
