How to put more than 9 videos in one collage

Nine frames is about as much as a phone screen can show at once. But a trip, a season or a whole year has more than nine moments. The answer is to let each frame play several clips in a row: four frames with five clips each make a 20-clip recap that still reads on a phone.

Short answer: a collage shows up to 9 videos at once, but each frame can play several clips one after another. In Video Grid Collage, tap the round + at the end of a frame's row on the timeline and pick more clips — they play in that frame after the ones already there. One collage holds up to 100 clips.
You'll need: an iPhone (iOS 18+) · the free Video Grid Collage app · ~5 minutes

Step by step

01

Start a collage

Open Video Grid Collage (free on the App Store), pick a layout or a template and add the first clip for each frame.

02

Find the frame's row

On the timeline, every frame of the layout has its own row in the Layout section, holding the clips that frame plays.

03

Add more clips to a frame

Tap the round + button at the end of the row and pick videos or photos. They're added after the last clip in that frame and play one after another.

04

Reorder and trim

Press and hold a clip on the timeline and drag it to change the order — or onto another frame's row to move it there. Tap a clip and drag its ends to trim it, or use Split to cut it at the playhead.

05

Even out the frames

The video lasts as long as the longest frame. A frame that runs out of clips shows the background until the end, so give every frame about the same total length — or pick a background color or photo under Background.

06

Export

Export in up to 4K at 60 fps. All the frames play together, each one running through its own clips.

Frequently asked questions

How many videos can one collage have?
Up to 9 play at once — one in each frame — and each frame can play several clips in a row, up to 100 clips in one collage.
Do all frames play at the same time?
Yes. The frames play together; inside each frame, the clips play one after another.
What happens when one frame ends earlier?
It shows the collage background — black, a color, a photo or a video — until the longest frame ends. Clips don't loop.
Can I move a clip to another frame?
Yes. Press and hold it on the timeline and drag it onto another frame's row, where there's room for it.
Is this a Pro feature?
Several clips per frame work in your free first project too. Pro unlocks every project after that.
